An expandable base allows testing of up to 2048 pins in 512-pin increments. The addition of pins can be done quickly in the field. The DUT socket assembly (DUT Test PCB) has up to 16 test sockets mounted in the center of an 11” square PCB. The tester uses a patented interconnect method to connect the socket to the test electronics. There are patterns of 512 gold pads aligned along the bottom edge of the DUT Test PCB. A patented interposer is used. There are no additional pins, connectors, or cables required. Any pin on the test socket can be connected to any of the gold pads. The resulting interconnect can be automatically “learned” by the tester. This greatly simplifies test socket design. Changing the tester’s DUT Test PCB requires the flick of a switch. It is clamped into place and lifted out with air driven alignment pins. The base is designed to be direct-docked to most test handlers without the need for any cabling. When the Opens & Shorts Tester is direct-docked to any Manufacturer pick-&-place test handler, the DUT Test PCB can be changed without having to undock the tester. Test times are substantially reduced. Opens & Shorts Tester can test a 2048-pin device for gross opens & shorts in less than 2.0 seconds. A 2048-pin tester is actually 16 individual 128-pin testers, all running in  parallel. There is only one interconnect from the O/ST-2048 test electronics to the DUT Test PCB. The O/ST-2048 can “Auto Learn” or automatically create its own test program by learning a set of good devices. The tester then averages the results to generate a test program. Any device with a significantly different pin(s) is eliminated from the average. A conventional pinto-pin test program can be generated as well. Yield reports and individual DUT test result data logs are generated and  saved to the hard disk during handling time, so as not to slow overall system UPH. All reports and data logs can be printed and saved in a format that can be used with MS Access/Excel software. Network support and Internet access are standard features in PC-based products. We can supply DUT Test PCBs with a wide variety of test sockets. We will supply information so that the customer can build their own test socket assemblies. We can supply a turnkey solution to your opens & shorts test requirements. Pick-&-place handlers can pick up one full row of devices from a JEDEC tray as if it were one part. Our test sockets are designed to mount on JEDEC tray pocket pitches. The resulting system is very easy to set up, is low cost, and can have a UPH approaching 15,000 per hour.
